Star Wars & Sock Hops

This week is our Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you, Teachers and Staff for helping our students each day and being such an important part of our community! In honor of our teachers and our Star-Wars-themed Staff Appreciation Week, we will be having a special Star Wars dress down day on Wednesday, 5/9! As usual, attire must be school appropriate and no toys or props may be brought. I cannot wait to see your best Star Wars gear!

We will also be having a 1950’s Sock Hop dress down day on Friday, 5/11, in honor of the Grease production at North Pointe. We will see you Friday in your poodle skirts, rolled up jeans, and white shirts (or any fifties accessories you have)!

Parent University – Internet Safety

Tonight, we had our first Parent University of the year and it was extremely informative. Lucia Artaega from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office came to discuss topics on internet safety including cyber bullying, social media sites, and potential online threats.

If you were unable to attend the event, Ms, Artaega provided additional resources for families available in the Front Office so come on by and snag one!

Parent University – Internet Safety on Thursday, 9/7

Each quarter, parents and community members are invited to campus to attend discussions on important topics at Parent University.

Please join us, Thursday, September 7th, as Lucia Artaega from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office presents on Internet Safety. The presentation will discuss cyber bullying, sites linked to cyber bullying, and who parents can contact in the event that their child is bullied. The purpose of this presentation is to inform parents on how to become familiar with the social media sites their children are using, learning the sites capabilities, discuss privacy settings, and encouraging parents to communicate the dangers of talking with people online to their children.

Light refreshments will be available to families. I look forward to seeing you all there!

Welcome Mrs. Fallon!

Pinnacle family,

On Friday, August 11, 2017, we were informed by Mrs. Adams that she would like to focus on her family and would no longer be working with Pointe Schools. We were surprised and disheartened to learn of her decision, however, we knew we needed to address the needs of our school, staff, and families immediately. I was asked to become principal of Pinnacle Pointe and gladly accepted.

This will be my fifth year with our Pointe Schools family. I began my journey here at Pinnacle Pointe Academy teaching first and second grades and eventually became Vice Principal here and at our sister school, Canyon Pointe Academy. I truly loved being an administrator, however, I spent the last year working at our District office and have been actively involved in all three Pointe campuses. When asked to come back to PPA, I was excited to see the many families of my previous students and the many new families which have joined us in the last year.

I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. I believe that students learn best through the active manipulation of their environment and that students who are excited to come to school each day will be most successful.

Although stability is something many of us place a high value on, Pointe Schools is committed to providing our students the most competent and qualified teachers and administrators available. Unfortunately, this can result in transitions that leave us feeling frustrated and uncertain. Pinnacle has experienced some transitions over the past year and we are very grateful for the continued support and trust you place in us by allowing us the privilege of spending each school day with your child.

Again, we appreciate your partnership as we continue to cultivate our campus and classrooms to create the best experience possible for your children. I look forward to a very successful year working with you and your student and to getting to know all of you as the year progresses! Go Panthers!

Sincerely,
Alexandra Fallon
Principal
